About

Why the Randy Carroll Fund Exists

Georgia Tech Baseball has produced more Major League Baseball players than nearly any program in the country—and yet, year after year, we watch elite programs pull ahead not because of talent, but because of resources. That ends now.

The Randy Carroll Fund is a private investment vehicle—managed at 0% advisory fee by BIP Wealth—that channels capital directly into the GT Baseball program. It was created by a coalition of former GT Baseball players, business executives, and dedicated supporters who believe this program deserves to be perennially elite, not occasionally excellent.

Named in honor of BIP Wealth Chairman Randy Carroll, the fund reflects his lifelong commitment to building institutions—and people—that last. The fund's structure ensures investment returns flow directly to the program and that a permanent corpus remains invested to generate support year after year.

"The standard I have is to play in Omaha and win a national championship. People need to hear that—it's not something we're going to shy away from."
James Ramsey  ·  Head Coach, Georgia Tech Baseball

Ways to Give

Two Paths. One Goal.

Whether you want to donate outright or invest and donate the proceeds, both paths carry meaningful tax advantages and deliver returns directly to Georgia Tech Baseball.

Path 01
Private Foundation Account
  • Donate 100% of committed funds to the Randy Carroll Fund
  • Full amount is fully tax-deductible, subject to AGI limits
  • Funds become permanent corpus of the foundation—principal stays invested
  • Simplest and most direct form of support
Path 02
Proceeds Gift Account
  • Invest in the fund and retain principal ownership
  • Only the returns (proceeds) are donated to GT Baseball—fully tax-deductible, subject to AGI limits
  • Principal remains yours with charitable benefits depending on your tax situation
  • Ideal for those who want impact while preserving wealth
BIP Wealth charges 0% advisory fee on this fund. This is our commitment to the program—not just an investment vehicle.

Reach Our Team

Project Gold Standard is powered by BIP Wealth. Co-founders Mark Buffington and Bill Harris met at Georgia Tech, where both played baseball for the Yellow Jackets. Years later they reconnected and, in 2007, founded BIP together, the firm that today manages the Randy Carroll Fund.

What began on the diamond became a lifelong partnership. That same commitment to Georgia Tech is why BIP manages this fund at zero advisory fee, so the maximum amount of returns goes to the program.

Governance & Fund Management

A fund without governance is a fund without trust. The Randy Carroll Fund will handle millions of dollars of other people's money in service of a cause they care deeply about. Governance isn't bureaucracy—it's the system that makes sure the mission never gets compromised and every stakeholder can trust the process.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Randy Carroll Fund?
The Randy Carroll Fund is a private investment fund managed by BIP Wealth, created to provide Georgia Tech Baseball with the sustained, structural financial support needed to compete for—and win—the College World Series. It is named in honor of BIP Wealth Chairman Randy Carroll and his lifelong commitment to building lasting institutions.
How is BIP Wealth compensated?
BIP Wealth charges 0% advisory fee on this fund. This is intentional and non-negotiable: our commitment is to the Georgia Tech Baseball program, and we want the maximum amount of investment returns flowing directly there.
Is my contribution tax-deductible?
Yes—both accounts offer tax advantages. In the Private Foundation Account (Path 01), your donated amount is tax-deductible, subject to itemized deductions. In the Proceeds Gift Account (Path 02), only the returns donated to GT Baseball are tax-deductible—subject to itemized deductions—while your principal remains yours. We recommend consulting your tax advisor to determine which path works best for your situation.
What is the minimum investment or donation?
Minimum amounts and eligibility details are discussed during your personal consultation with our team. Please reach out to any of the contacts listed below to start that conversation—we'll tailor the right structure to your goals.
Can I retain my principal if I invest?
Yes. If you choose Path 02 (the Proceeds Gift Account), you retain full ownership of your principal. Only the investment returns are donated to GT Baseball. This is ideal for donors who want to maximize impact while preserving their wealth.
How are the funds actually used by the program?
Funds are allocated toward fully funded scholarships, program enhancements (technology, facility upgrades, nutrition, equipment, travel), promotional activities, and investments in advanced hitting and pitching technology. The long-term goal is to give Coach Ramsey and his staff every tool needed to compete for a national championship on a consistent basis.
Do I need to be a Georgia Tech graduate or former player to participate?
No. The fund is open to GT graduates, former athletes, and fans who want to be part of building the program to elite status. If you believe in what we're building, there's a place for you here.
What happens to my investment if the fund doesn't reach its target?
Your investment is still deployed in the fund and managed by BIP Wealth regardless of whether the full $15M target is reached. Every dollar committed has immediate impact. We encourage you to contact our team directly for specifics around fund structure and deployment timelines.
